Leipoa ocellata
A Malleefowl working at the mound late in the afternoon. The sun is dropping and the bird is adjusting soil depth to help regulate the temperature for the eggs buried within the mound.
This picture shows only a part of the huge mound, created by the Malleefowl and its mate, and perhaps earlier pairs, over a number of years.
